Here Sara talks about it to us and she sends out a challenge to Saskatoon ladies!

" With your help Habitat for Humanity Saskatoon can raise $100,000 in 100 days, which is the funding needed to build a Habitat home for a family.

-Imagine paying over 60% of your monthly income for rent for a small apartment that is not safe for your family.

-Imagine having to choose between paying the power bill, so that the lights stayed on another month, and buying groceries.

This is reality for too many Saskatoon families. The need for affordable housing has never been greater in our city. It’s not just stroking a cheque....there is more ( if you want it )

Ladies, beyond the extremely generous act of giving ( or raising) the $1000, this initiative is unique, as we also includes many EXTRAS!

**If you choose to be 1 of the 100 women, in Feb 2015 you will be treated to an exclusive 100 in 100 Red Carpet Extravaganza Party to celebrate achieving this amazing goal ( anyone that knows me, knows I throw a heck of a party! Not to be missed)

**Be part of the build itself – offer your skills ( and / or your families, employees, team members or fellow fundraisers skills ) on build days throughout the year, and work alongside the families that will benefit from this extraordinary fundraiser- as they pour their own sweat equity into building the home they have always longed for !!

BE PART OF THE SOLUTION Last year in Regina $100,000 was raised in just 49 days. ( I think we can beat them …)

Please forward this post and CHALLENGE your friends to join us as part of this exciting campaign.

The 100 days started September, 15, 2015 it end on Christmas Eve

To show my commitment I pledge $2000 - for Trusted's donation - so myself and Leanna Keyes the Trusted Saskatoon consultant are 2 of the 100...I know that we already have pledges in ..and that as i write this events are being organized to raise money - if you can't donate $1000, i urge you to think out side the box on how you can contribute - share this post on social media , attend the events to raise money BE INVOLVED ! Why Choose Custom Drapery?

Choosing to go the route of customizing draperies and curtains for your home can sometime be a tough pill to swallow, but only when it comes to the price. So what is the benefit of paying for custom versus buying ready made? It’s all in the details, details, details.

Window dressing is a lot like choosing articles of clothing. If your clothes are not the right fit or made from poor quality material, the finished look won’t be flattering. And like clothing, there are cheap, trendy throwaway options and classic designer draperies that will be worth handing down – or getting altered over time.

The major differences between buying ready-made curtains for under $100 and ordering custom draperies start with size. Prefab curtains are a one-size-fits-all application. Width and length are standardized and will therefore force you to mold your window to the drape rather than the other way around. A window that deserves to have a rod hung well above it’s frame will suffer if that drapery treatment can only be hung from one standard height. Where a treatment could be made to give a window or room height and drama now faces the overall feel of being skimpy.

Lining and fullness also add to the benefit of custom made draperies. The overall quality of a lining and outer fabric in a ready-made drape is often cheap resulting in a flat or lifeless look when hung. Custom drapes will look fuller and thicker simply based on a better lining and higher quality fabrics used. Fullness too plays a part. Custom drapes are going to be a lot fuller because they are constructed using a minimum of two and a half times fullness (across the window), so if your window is 100 inches you fabric is 250 inches or more creating proper full and luxurious looking pleats that drape well. Custom made drapery is especially important for closing drapes or wide window coverage because each width or panel is seamed together creating one solid panel that is “split” wherever desired. The pattern (if there is one) can be matched properly and seams are tucked away to the back of the pleat and panels then appear seamless!

Window dressings are the finishing touches on the space, so choose them carefully and with consideration to the application. We offer consultations with photos to discuss initial project scope and fabric selection. Professional check measures are completed before any work gets underway. Contact us today @ 306-280-0632 to inquire after your drapery needs or to answer any preliminary questions you may have.

Call us at 306-280-0632 for a free in-home consultation and quote – we can work with any budget! From one single window to a whole home or office building, we will work with you to get the window coverings you love!

Trusted community steps up to help a local Saskatoon woman after her contractor nightmare Part 1

The Trusted teamwork for the public, we do that by finding great local businesses, verifying they are as good as we have heard, and contracting them to uphold the 5 Trusted Guarantees. These 5 Trusted guarantees are the cornerstone of our business and the businesses we partner with, and if something does go wrong we hold the businesses to their obligations....that's what the Trusted Saskatoon businesses sign up for. That's why we promote them and why we believe they are the best businesses in the cities we serve.

JANICE'S BUILD- the Trusted Rebuild

Last week we heard about Janice, a single Mum in Saskatoon that has not been lucky enough to deal with a  ' Trustworthy' business, in fact, she has dealt with the kind of company that we set Trusted Saskatoon up to protect people from.... let's share the first part of the story.

Janice is a lovely woman who has been left in a house that was a home 5 months ago & now is a dangerous unfinished, building site. She is trying to keep on a brave face for her 10-year-old daughter but is sick with worry that the house won't survive the Winter cold that is on its way,  and wondering every day how she is going to manage to get back on her feet .......why? All because of an unscrupulous Saskatoon contractor that has been her worst nightmare!

We heard her story last week through a friend of Sara's, the Trusted founder, and we were extremely moved by her plight, and wanted to do what we could to help...it's a great thing we know an amazing group of local Saskatoon businesses, who are invested in their community and who truly set the standard for integrity in the Saskatoon Business community!

We sent out an email at 9 pm that night, we had some responses back within the hour and by the end of the week, we have already had so many wonderful Trusted Saskatoon directory partners offer Janice their help...and  Trusted Regina partners!

Thank you also to Aaron Loraas- from Loraas disposal for donating bins and garbage fees for the project, Winroc and Rona for materials and Heating roofing systems in Colorado for the roof!!

Sara went to surprise Janice tonight, who knew nothing of this until then..it was extremely emotional, Janice was completely gobsmacked when Sara knocked on her door and told her why she was there. Once the first round of tears dried, and she realized Sara was above board, she showed her around the house and Sara couldn't believe the state this contractor has left her in. We shared the news about the wonderful Trusted Saskatoon companies that had already stepped up to help her, and she was happy to allow us to document this journey by blog and video, so she could prevent other people from having the same thing happen to them....so this is Part 1 of THE HOUSE THAT TRUSTED SASKATOON REBUILT!

So whats next?

A well-recognized business leader and expert in the construction industry is going to cast his professional eye over Janice's bombsite of a home, and he will then be able to assess just what needs to be done, and from there we can start planning the rebuild, and what we need in regards help & materials from these amazing Trusted Saskatoon companies.

We will leave you with Sara's comments as the last words of Part 1

" Saskatoon has been amazing to me and my family, and I believe it's important to step up to help people in the community you live in. Janice's situation is not uncommon unfortunately, a thing like this happen every day to families and individuals in this city and this province, that's why I was motivated to start Trusted. I am just glad I am in a position, along with the Trusted partners to help her with this hand up back on her feet again.

To start the ball rolling I will donate $1000 in TrustedSaskatoon.com  Gift Certificates for Janice to put towards this rebuild. She can use them at any of the partner businesses on the www.trustedsaskatoon.com directory.  I am not going to publicly name the contractor or his business...that is not my place, but after what I saw & heard today I believe strongly that the company  should have their A rating on the Better Business Bureau of Saskatchewan lowered to an F, and the insurance companies should take them off their preferred list of contractors"
