Meet Sanctuary Spas & Re-Creation: Saskatoon & Areas Premier Hot Tub Haven!

From the moment I stepped into Sanctuary Spas & Re-Creation, located just a short drive on the outskirts of Warman, Saskatchewan. I felt a genuine warmth and welcome. The space is beautiful and stocked with an impressive wall of hot tub chemicals, filters and supplies. There is an atmosphere of undeniable calm and relaxation.

I had the pleasure of meeting owners Lauren and Julie Penner, a dynamic husband-and-wife duo and proud parents of two delightful children. Lauren’s journey into the hot tub industry began in 2002 when he transitioned from training as an auto mechanic to working as a hot tub service technician. After years in the field, an opportunity to acquire a local hot tub repair business inspired them to establish Unaffiliated Hot Tub Home Care. Their focus on honest repairs over purchasing a new hot tub quickly earned them a loyal clientele who appreciated their integrity.

Now, with a showroom in their new location, the business has evolved into Sanctuary Spas & Re-Creation. This new name truly reflects their mission to create peaceful backyard sanctuaries for their clients.

As Lauren says,

“Our goal has always been to find the best solution to meet our customers’ needs.”

So, their recent decision to offer Softtub, a premium Canadian plug-and-play hot tub brand, and to be the exclusive dealers of Bellagio Luxury Spas gives customers options that best suit their budget, needs, and lifestyle, further exemplifying this commitment. They not only provide hot tub repair, but the addition of these brands allows customers to purchase hot tubs and all the supplies.

Sanctuary and a Place of Restoration

The name Sanctuary Spas & Re-Creation embodies the heart of their brand. Lauren and Julie believe that a hot tub should be more than a luxury—it’s a place of rejuvenation and peace where one can recharge from life’s demands.

“Relax. Refresh. Reconnect.” is their motto.

Sanctuary represents that peaceful place, while Re-Creation speaks to their dedication to restoring and rebuilding the person and providing “peace of mind” through their products and services.

We met Lauren & Julie when they initially contacted our sister company, Trusted Marketing Services. They were looking for marketing assistance, and we worked with them to create their new brand, which they unveiled at the 2024 Warman Open For Business Expo. They were amazing to work with, and once we got to know more about them and their business goals, we knew they would be a GREAT fit for the Trusted Saskatoon community!

What do their Customers Say?

“Lauren has been incredible to work with! We bought our Bellagio Hot Tub from him, and his service, knowledge, and helpfulness were great. I totally recommend Sanctuary Spas to anyone needing a hot tub!” - Del Ehlert

“ I got my hot tub through Home Depot and of course, there is nobody that can help with service or maintenance when you buy from them. I searched for and found Lauren, and they are great to work with! I was so impressed with how kind receptionist Kathleen was when I called in. She was so friendly and helpful and I felt very quickly like we had known each other for years. They went above and beyond trying to find replacement jets for me. They are honest, responsive, affordable and were good about communicating with me. I recommend them for sure!” - Terry Graham, Saskatoon

Wheatland loves its customers and as a result, their customers love and TRUST them. In their latest outdoor living tip, they share how to get your outdoor space ready for fall.

Getting Your Outdoor Space Ready for Fall

Back to school. Leaves falling. Pumpkin picking. Fall is here and getting your outside space ready for the changing season should be a priority. Whether you’re wrapping up the outdoor season or settling in for a long fall, these tips will help you prepare your deck, porch, patio, or backyard for fall.

Deck Décor

Cooler nights call for warm lighting, fires, and cozy furniture. Decking your furniture out with big, fluffy pillows and blankets can help set the cozy tone in your backyard. While in the summer months, blankets likely aren’t needed, having a variety of indoor/outdoor blankets available for guests can be a great way to keep them warm and extend your evening. For an extra pop of fall colour, use reds, oranges and yellows in your pillow and blanket choices. Also, adding fall wreaths, pumpkins, mums, fall foliage or gourds can amp up your décor game.

An Element of Fire

Another great way to keep warm this fall is with a fire pit or table. Wheatland has several great options that will fit nearly any type of backyard setup. Stay cozy and warm with any of our options this fall. Have specific questions about how to take care of your fire table in the fall and winter? Contact Wheatland today!

Light It Up

Lighting is an inexpensive addition you can make to your backyard to make it feel warm, cozy and inviting. String lights put off the perfect amount of lighting to give a warm ambience to any setting. Candles are another great way to add warm lighting but try a flameless option to keep your yard and home safe.

Cover It Up

Buying a cover for your patio furniture, including your fire pit table, is a great way to protect it from wind, rain and the impending winter weather. Durable, weather-resistant covers will help protect your investment and keep snow, leaves and other elements out of your fire pit table.

Mahana Outdoor | A Warm Breeze

ZONE HEATING

The real added value of the Mahana outdoor fireplace is rooted in where we drew the inspiration for the name from – Mahana is Hawaiian for “warm breeze”.

Both sizes of the Mahana outdoor feature a quiet blower system designed to warm your outdoor room well beyond the capabilities of a standard outdoor fireplace.

WOOD CONSTRUCTION

Fire and wood don’t usually go together, but the Mahana outdoor room fireplace was designed in such a way that you can build into standard wood frame construction and finish with a variety of combustible facing materials.

SAFETY FIRST

While the full-width glass door protects the fireplace flame from winds up to 40mph, the Mahana’s mesh safety screen and cool-to-the-touch enclosure protect your friends and family from potential burns.

The Outdoor Room | New Possibilities

Homeowners are building increasingly elaborate outdoor rooms and living spaces that essentially become an extension of their home. They want more flexible fire feature options to bring their vision to life. Traditionally designated for indoor use only, many fireplace models are now approved for use in certain protected outdoor room fireplace applications.

Trusted Saskatoon Wheatland Fireplace Inspiration & Customizing Your Outdoor Kitchen

Your first step into the beautiful Wheatland Fireplace Kitchen & Bath Saskatoon showroom will help you understand why Wheatland Fireplace has been given the Thumbs up by Trusted Saskatoon. Wheatland loves their customers and as a result, their customers love and TRUST them. In their latest outdoor living tip, they explain how to customize your outdoor kitchen.

How To Customize Your Outdoor Kitchen

Custom outdoor kitchens are in high demand because they add value to the home, are great for entertaining, and expands your property’s living space. Let’s explore the most important factors to consider when customizing your own unique outdoor dream kitchen.

Define the Space

Just as homes come in many shapes and sizes, the same is true for outdoor kitchens. A few common kitchen shapes are L-shaped, linear, and even U-Shaped kitchens. Another popular option is a two-piece kitchen, where there’s a section for cooking, storage, and accessories. The other section usually features a bar and is used for dining and entertaining. Which layout sounds most suitable for your outdoor area?

It’s important to consider placement when you are incorporating a custom kitchen into your space. Here are a few things you’ll need to think about when turning your outdoor dream into a reality:

1. Proximity
One crucial aspect of where you decide to place your kitchen is how far away it is from your home. Since some of the food preparation will need to be done inside, you’ll want to place your kitchen in close distance with the entrance of your backyard. This will allow for hassle-free transportation between the two locations.

2. Backyard Size
The size of your backyard should factor in to how large you build your outdoor kitchen. Take some time to strategize how much square footage you’re willing to give up for your custom kitchen design. The size you want your kitchen to be is completely up to you.

3. Zoning Laws
Be sure to check with local and national ordinances when determining the size and placement of your outdoor dining area. Zoning laws are in place to regulate how your property can be used. It’d be a shame to finalize a beautiful outdoor kitchen project that might not satisfy local codes and regulations.

Pro tip: Find a professional. There are many technical factors to consider when building an outdoor kitchen, such as heat clearances, electrical accessibility, and zoning laws, so finding the right person for the job will aid in creating a safe and fully optimized outdoor entertainment area.

Prioritize Your Accessories

When it comes to indoor cooking and dining, what’s most important to you? Perhaps it’s the shimmering, stainless-steel appliances or plentiful amount of pantry space. Some homeowners really value a kitchen island with a bar for entertaining guests and countertop space with added storage.

Since an outdoor kitchen brings all that you love about your indoor kitchen outdoors, we recommend reflecting on what’s most important to you as you customize this new area. Here’s a quick list of grills, storage units, and other accessories commonly used in outdoor kitchen designs:
  • Drawers and access doors for storage and trash
  • Charcoal, gas, and electric grills for cooking
  • Sink with faucet for cleaning
  • Refrigerator for beverages

Explore What’s Popular

Once you’ve built the framework for your outdoor kitchen, the next step is deciding the kind of look you want for the exterior finish. Homeowners commonly use the same materials on their home for the exterior of their outdoor kitchen for a clean, unifying look. Other popular materials used for the base are stucco, brick, or stone veneer, also known as stacked stone. Supercast™ concrete and granite are suitable options for the countertop section of outdoor kitchens.

Many backyards also incorporate some kind of shading, such as a gazebo, awning, pergola, or umbrella, to further define the outdoor kitchen area and fend off a bright and scorching sun. These sources of shade can be outfitted with outdoor lighting to make kitchens an all-day, one-stop-shop for relaxation and entertaining.

Trusted Saskatoon BBQ Store tips for building an outdoor kitchen!

Here they give great Tips for Building an Outdoor Kitchen:

With warm weather beckoning us outside, why make a meal indoors? If you want to transform your yard into another favourite spot on your property, an outdoor kitchen is a great place to start - and it doesn't have to cost a lot to be functional.

Planning Your Space

Location is the key to an outdoor kitchen that is functional and well-integrated into your deck or yard.

  • Consider what you want in your outdoor kitchen. It can be as simple as using your existing barbecue and adding a small counter prep area and storage unit.
  • Plan the arrangement of your components. Place them against an existing wall or fence for a galley-style kitchen that takes up the least amount of space. Or use a corner to create a more expansive L-shaped space that works well if you have several cooks in the kitchen.
  • Factor in the placement of your outdoor eating area - it should be close enough to the grill to work in tandem with it but not so near that smoke wafts over the dining set.
  • Pick a spot close to outdoor electrical outlets and a water source.
  • Make sure you have room to expand the kitchen in the future to add more counter space and storage, or perhaps a wood-burning pizza oven or smoker.

Choosing Materials
With a little planning, it's possible to choose materials to create an outdoor kitchen without spending a fortune.

  • Use materials that can stand up to sun, water and stains for counter prep area and storage. Durable solid surface Corian®, quartz Silestone® and stainless steel are all great options.
  • If you're short on space, use storage units on castors, a serving cart, or build a counter that folds down.
  • You'll need a level surface to start. Pavers are the most economical option for creating a patio space and easy to add to if you want to expand your outdoor kitchen space in the future.
  • If you're planning to have a permanent grilling area, build your base with affordable brick and stone for decorative emphasis.
  • Make sure your outdoor fridge and grill are easy to move so they can be stored inside during the winter.
  • If you live in an area with high humidity, choose rust-resistant materials.

Safety Tips
An outdoor kitchen tends to be a high-traffic area, so it's important to follow these safety guidelines.

  • Keep a first-aid kit and fire extinguisher on hand.
  • Ensure the grill is located at least five feet from the house and not too close to the dining area to restrict movement between the cooking area and the rest of the yard.
  • Choose a location that gets some shade so you don't have to worry about always being exposed to the elements.
  • Make sure the grill isn't too close to windows and doors to avoid your house filling with smoke when you're cooking.
  • To avoid attracting insects and wildlife, choose materials and appliances that are easy to clean.
